In Revelation 4, John's first sight is a throne and someone seated on it, before any disaster. This establishes the book's order: see first who reigns, then the world's upheaval. The song grasps that point. Psalm 47:8 also declares, “God reigns over the nations. God sits on his holy throne.” Many Chinese worship songs speak of reigning and can slide into declarations intended mainly to boost confidence. Sung more slowly and steadily, this one comes closer to John's vision. The throne's majesty does not depend on volume. Use it amid public uncertainty or upheaval in a church.
