Redeeming grace · The cross and substitutionary atonement
This song brings together the strength we receive in weakness and worship of Jesus as the redeeming Lamb. Those singing acknowledge their need to be lifted up and provided for, and offer honour to the Lord because he has borne their sin. John 1 and Revelation 5 help us understand the Lamb’s identity and why he deserves worship; 2 Corinthians points out that the Lord’s grace remains sufficient in human weakness. Calling Jesus our all in all acknowledges that he comes first and is the foundation of our belonging and hope. Singing this song at Communion can lead us from asking for personal help into thanksgiving for redemption, worshipping Christ with one heart alongside all the saints.
