In Revelation 5, John weeps because no one can open the scroll. An elder tells him not to weep: the Lion of Judah has conquered. Yet when he turns, he sees a Lamb that has been slain. The victor appears as a slain Lamb, Revelation’s most important turn. Heaven's new song declares the slain Lamb worthy. This song sings that declaration. It is particularly suitable before Communion. Worship leaders need not drive emotions higher: the passage already carries sufficient weight.
