Redeeming grace · The incarnation
Beginning with a question about the infant’s identity, this hymn leads beyond the manger’s humble appearance to recognise Jesus as Christ the King, worthy of worship. Shepherds’ wonder, angels’ praise and offered gifts surround the Saviour who humbly entered the world. John’s incarnation teaching explains his real entrance into human life; Matthew’s wise men bowing with gifts supply a concrete worship response. At Christmas, invite listeners to consider how they know Jesus and welcome him into life. Offer the heart’s reverence, then express it through obedience to his Word and care for lowly people nearby.
