About this hymn

One of the early modern worship songs to spread through Chinese churches, it is almost as simple as a declaration that there is a God. For seekers, this is the first threshold: acknowledging this one God comes before discussing doctrine. Paul's address in Athens in Acts 17 follows the same sequence. He begins with “The God who made the world and all things in it” (Acts 17:24), then continues. The melody is easy to learn, so newcomers can join in on their first visit. It is therefore often used at evangelistic gatherings. When opening with it, do not rush to explain too much; let the congregation sing this declaration first.

When to use this hymn

Evangelistic gatherings, outreach meetings and newcomer Sundays; children's and family worship.
