Confession and repentance · Confession and returning
This song invites worshippers to examine afresh what they are really offering when they come before the Lord. The image of music falling silent turns our attention from outward arrangements to our hearts. In prayer, we acknowledge that we have strayed and put Jesus back at the centre. John 4 points out that the Father seeks those who truly worship him; Psalm 51 also shows us that the Lord accepts a broken and contrite heart. Music and all kinds of gifts can carry our worship, while honesty of heart makes our offering a real response. After singing, we can continue our praise through caring for one another, doing good and sharing, so that the turning back to the Lord that happens in the gathering gradually becomes a continuing direction in our lives.
Renewing worship, prayers of confession, worship-team retreats and quiet response.
