Our misery in sin · Weakness and weariness
Help in trouble, mountains surrounding the holy city, a rock and high tower for refuge gather into this song’s trust in the Lord. Psalm 46 allows the reality of a shaking earth yet directs human security towards God. Psalm 125’s surrounding mountains picture his care for his people. Such strength lets weary people stand again while allowing them to admit to the Lord what they cannot bear. Naming particular burdens in prayer and jointly declaring the Lord they trust helps a congregation support one another. His protection often enters real circumstances through companionship, reminders and timely help.
Intercession amid difficulty, visiting the sick, major decisions and the church’s watchful prayer.
