Confession and repentance · Surrender and dedication
Longing for nearness to Jesus moves here towards offering the whole person: asking the Lord to cleanse, renew and guide daily life. Romans 12 grounds this response in God’s mercy already given; John connects remaining in his love to keeping his commands. Receive the song’s intimate imagery within the biblical picture of Christ’s love for the church. After meeting the Lord, our desires, time and treatment of people are also handed to him for adjustment. Leave a period of quiet prayer to consider one matter requiring obedience, giving love for the Lord a visible response in specific choices.
Commitment responses, retreats and dedication prayer; follow with Romans 12 reading and quiet examination.
