The weary and thirsty are invited to Jesus, before the work directs attention towards the crucified Saviour. Matthew’s invitation to rest includes learning from him: his gentleness and humility pattern the disciples’ walk. Hebrews 12 also encourages the weary to consider his suffering and receive strength to continue. Looking to him can become a practical pause amid busyness—putting down tasks, rereading his Word and pouring out burdens to him. After worship, willingness to take the next step in his will extends looking upwards into following with direction and a sustainable rhythm.
