The glory of God · Creation and sovereignty
The picture of heaven and earth rejoicing together places the congregation’s thanksgiving within the wide panorama of creation responding to the Lord. Psalm 96 looks forward to the coming of the righteous Lord; Psalm 100 invites the people he shepherds to draw near to him joyfully. The work also remembers the joy the Lord gives and helps people encourage one another when they gather. Joy can be expressed exuberantly or through quiet trust; those with physical limitations or heavy hearts can equally participate in worship. When using the song at family or children’s gatherings, it is helpful to begin by briefly explaining why we thank the Lord and then respond together with sections that are easy to sing along with. In this way, people of different ages are all welcomed within the community.
Opening Sunday worship, family and children’s worship, and united gatherings; leave room for soft singing or quiet participation.
