The glory of God · Christ: glory made visible
The whole song joins Jesus’ holiness, his self-giving on the cross and the worship of all things. It suits reflection on Christ’s humiliation and exaltation in Philippians 2. His glory appears in obeying the Father and laying down his life to redeem sinners; Revelation 5 likewise shows the praised Lamb bearing the marks of death and victory. While confessing Jesus as Lord, the congregation can ask him to shape their attitudes in humility, obedience and service. Worship’s honour then receives an everyday response, and the Lord’s name is glorified in believers’ treatment of one another.
