When things are hard to understand and faith wavers, this work leads us to ask the Lord for help and remain willing to trust him. The good spoken of in Romans 8 is connected with becoming like Christ in the following verse, giving direction to waiting amid trouble. Isaiah 55 invites us to return to the God who willingly forgives and acknowledge that his ways are higher than our plans. Jesus’ prayer in Gethsemane lets us see that obedience can coexist with real pain and pouring out our hearts. As we sing, we can honestly name our questions, ask the Lord for discernment and patience, learn to put into practice one thing we can obey today and allow fellow believers to accompany one another in difficult choices.
