In prayer people can acknowledge their smallness, release pretence and tell the Lord concerns difficult to express to others. Beginning in genuine need, this work gradually moves towards willingness to live for Jesus each day. Psalm 62 invites God’s people to pour out their hearts to him; Hebrews enables bold seeking of grace because the Saviour sympathises with weakness. Prayer therefore includes tears, listening and new action. Coming before the Lord in the morning, entrust the day’s responsibilities and relationships to him and ask him for sufficient strength. Reviewing at night, rest what cannot be carried alone within his mercy.
