The pilgrim journey · Prayer and drawing near
Coming before the heavenly Father each day to seek his help is the direction of this song’s prayer. Hebrews explains that Jesus sympathises with our weaknesses, so believers can come confidently before the throne of grace. The work also connects our need for Scripture and the Holy Spirit’s guidance with maintaining a heart that loves the Lord. This prayer is particularly suitable before the beginning of a busy day, helping us remember afresh the grace on which we depend. Revelation’s exhortation to the church in Ephesus reminds us to examine whether we have lost our first love amid work and ministry. After singing, we can leave time for silence and ask the Lord to help us deal faithfully with one matter today and respond to those around us with real care.
Daily devotions, morning prayer, prayer before serving and prayer meetings.
