The pilgrim journey · Prayer and drawing near
Using a scene of heavenly worship, this work expresses a community’s prayer to experience the Lord’s presence. The Lord’s Prayer teaches us to long for the heavenly Father’s will to be done on earth; Ephesians explains that believers together become, in Christ, a dwelling for God through the Holy Spirit. The church can therefore humbly seek him, asking that Scripture reading, prayer and serving one another within the gathering may all be guided by him. This prayer also points towards renewal in the community’s life: that hurt people may be welcomed, disagreements dealt with honestly and weak people supported. As we sing, we can leave time for shared intercession, asking the Lord to make our practical love and obedience a witness to the grace of his dwelling among his people.
Preparing for gatherings, intercession for the church community and opening prayer meetings.
