This song joins invitations from several psalms: to come before the Lord who made us, thank him and tell his works among the nations. Psalm 95 calls God the Creator and the Lord who shepherds his people; Psalm 96 widens the horizon of worship to all peoples. The congregation’s singing therefore carries both thanksgiving and the direction of gospel proclamation. Leaders can begin with a call to worship from a psalm, then invite each person to respond in their own way. After the gathering ends, we can still tell others about the Lord we have come to know through kindness in our treatment of people, honest testimony and care for our neighbours. Shared praise thus extends into a visible life of faith each day.
