The pilgrim journey · Companionship and guidance
The pilgrims’ journey towards God’s dwelling in Psalm 84 forms the song’s central background. The road includes a valley of tears as well as strength and provision from the Lord. What the psalmist treasures is the blessing of drawing near to God and relying on him. Autumn rains and springs help a community in hardship remember his care afresh. Read the whole pilgrimage passage so the congregation sees that the road ahead still requires one step after another. Mutual prayer, sharing burdens and continuing to gather are practical ways a travelling church experiences grace together while waiting for the Lord’s guidance.
Retreats, prayer meetings, communal worship in difficult times and mutual support.
