Confession and repentance · Surrender and dedication
Sitting quietly before Jesus, learning to listen and entrust ourselves to him, is the direction in which this song leads us. Luke 10 records Mary sitting at the Lord’s feet listening to his word, and Jesus affirms the blessing she has chosen. Those busy caring and serving also need this space to stop and receive. The work then places our worries and everything we have in the Lord’s hands, joining stillness with dedication. After singing, we can read a passage of Scripture and use a brief prayer to name the burden we currently find hardest to release. Trusting the Lord’s care enables us to return with his guidance to the responsibilities we must bear, handling work and relationships with clearer, gentler hearts and being willing to accept help from fellow believers.
Quiet devotions, retreats, renewal for those serving and prayers of entrusting ourselves to the Lord.
