The glory of God · Christ: glory made visible
The Lamb has already overcome and deserves glory: this gives the praise in this short song a clear centre. Revelation 5 and 7 depict worship in heaven and among all peoples, giving honour, power and thanksgiving to God seated on the throne and to the Lamb. As the church on earth sings these words, we also learn to turn our attention from our own achievements and needs towards the Lord. The simple melody suits a shared response, especially after a testimony of salvation or a Scripture reading. After the gathering, we can take this direction into daily life: thanking him when we receive grace, asking him for help in difficulties, remembering to whom glory belongs when ministry bears fruit and treasuring every fellow believer who participates.
