The glory of God · Christ: glory made visible
Jesus is both the Lamb who laid down his life for us and the King who deserves the honour of all creation. Philippians 2 connects his exaltation with his humiliation and obedience to death; Revelation 5 lets the church see heaven’s praise centring on his work of redeeming people with his life. Honouring Jesus’ name therefore also renews our understanding of authority: this King reveals glory through self-giving. As the church sings, we can first read the passages about Christ’s humiliation and exaltation, then turn worship into humble service. Faced with frightening powers in the world, believers can also find hope in his eternal reign and continue walking faithfully on the road before them.
