The pilgrim journey · Prayer and drawing near
This song describes opening ourselves to the Lord in worship, bringing thanksgiving and the heart’s response together. Psalm 103 calls the whole person to remember the Lord’s benefits, while Ephesians 5 links being filled with the Spirit to singing to one another and thanking God. Quietness, joy, being moved and emotions still unresolved can all come honestly before the Lord. Give the congregation time to consider what they sing, gradually directing attention towards Jesus. John 4’s teaching about spirit and truth helps a community remain honest in song and continue drawing near to the Lord afterwards.
Quiet response during worship, retreats, prayer meetings and personal devotions.
