This song gently invites those burdened and discouraged, connecting hope for life afresh with Jesus. The rest promised in Matthew 11 includes coming before the Lord and learning from his example; the abundant life of John 10 comes from the Good Shepherd’s love in laying down his life for the sheep. In Christ we receive direction for life and strength to face hardship. Paul’s learning to be content in every circumstance in Philippians 4 gives this trust a concrete illustration. As we sing, we can honestly name our current burdens, receive the companionship of brothers and sisters and ask the Lord to lead us in taking the step we can take today.
