The glory of God · Holiness and majesty
A short song of a few repeatable lines, written in a church music composition class in 1974. Its minor key, unusual among praise choruses, lends solemnity without noise. The words join hallelujah to declarations that the Lord has risen from the dead, is Lord of heaven and earth, and will come again. Revelation’s multitude cries in this manner: “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns!” (Revelation 19:6). Circulating Chinese versions add stanzas naming Jesus King of kings and the redeeming Lamb. Such a chorus suits repeated congregational singing and quiet responses between prayers.
A short chorus of praise and proclamation, suitable for opening worship, responses between prayers and children’s gatherings.
