Taking up the invitation of Psalm 96, this Scripture-themed song directs the congregation’s voices towards God’s salvation and glory. A new song expresses a fresh response to his works and urges his people to tell his wonders among all peoples. Congregational worship is therefore closely connected with gospel witness: the grace we praise before the Lord can continue to be spoken of in everyday life. Leaders can first read the relevant psalm and invite brothers and sisters to consider recent reasons for thanksgiving and remember communities that do not yet know the Lord. Whatever our personal circumstances, the God who creates and saves still deserves our reverence. Singing together helps us look beyond our individual horizons and share in the hope of all peoples praising him.
