About this hymn

Beginning with personally knowing Jesus as Saviour, comfort and refuge, this song gradually expands into a shout inviting the whole earth to praise together. Psalm 98 also joins human singing with the response of mountains and seas, looking towards God ruling the world in righteousness. Such worship brings personal thanksgiving into a wider hope: the Lord who sustains me also deserves the honour of all peoples. As we sing, we can notice the movement from nearness to praise, giving gratitude specific memories and grounding our trust in his promises. Even while circumstances remain uncertain, we can still join the church in acknowledging his majesty and find strength to keep going in his lovingkindness and faithfulness.

When to use this hymn

Sunday worship, thanksgiving gatherings and praise on creation and kingship.
