The pilgrim journey · Mission and the gospel
This song invites believers to look attentively at the people around them: behind everyday expressions and busyness there may be loneliness, loss and needs they cannot put into words. Matthew 9 records Jesus seeing the crowds and having compassion on them, and teaching his disciples to pray for gospel workers; 2 Corinthians explains that the church has received the ministry of reconciling people to God. As we sing, we can think of particular friends and neighbours we know, pray for them and be willing to spend time listening. Evangelism calls for clear proclamation of Christ and for accompanying others with respect, patience and practical care, giving the hope we express a credible witness in life.
Mission Sundays, gospel gatherings, commissioning for short-term mission and intercession for the salvation of friends and relatives.
