The living sacrifice of Romans 12 means continually offering our bodies and daily lives to God. Philippians 3 describes dedication as forgetting what lies behind and pressing towards the goal. A life’s offering passes through favourable circumstances and storms, requiring grace’s ongoing support beyond a single moving moment in a meeting. Those who serve must also remain alert: the language of dedication must not coerce people into neglecting rest, family responsibilities or healthy boundaries. A response acceptable to God grows from Christ’s prior mercy and bears fruit in faithfulness, justice and mutual care within the church.
