The pilgrim journey · Prayer and drawing near
This work joins worship with reflection on grace, giving our simple expressions of love specific things to recall. As we come before the Lord and remember how he has shown grace, forgiven and sustained us, the gratitude in our hearts gradually becomes praise. Psalm 16 connects joy with God’s presence; Psalm 103 also invites our souls to remember his benefits. As we sing, we can first invite the congregation to recall a recent experience of comfort or help, then thank the Lord together. This practice helps us slow down and come to know the gracious Lord afresh behind familiar language of faith, learning to express the love and reverence we sing through honest lives.
Prayers of thanksgiving, small-group worship, personal devotions and quiet meditation.
