Confession and repentance · Surrender and dedication
A seed entering the soil joins the cost of following Jesus with life’s fruitfulness. John 12 first points to Jesus’ approaching death and only then calls disciples to follow: his accomplished salvation supports our self-denial. The song invites surrender of self-centred insistence, making time, abilities and plans gifts for serving others. Such dedication grows through ordinary, unseen faithfulness, entrusting the results to God. When singing of commitment, bring to mind one person needing love and one matter requiring obedience, letting prayer enter genuine daily choices.
Discipleship, response to mission, dedication to service and testimonies of life at memorial services.
