The pilgrim journey · Companionship and guidance
This song acknowledges that life has hardships and then encourages us to continue on the path of faith through Christ’s promise that he has already overcome the world. Hebrews 12 connects running the race with looking to Jesus; 2 Timothy 4 also records Paul’s testimony to faithfulness near the end of his life. This encouragement gives weary people a foundation on which they can rely and reminds the community to support one another. At commissioning or coworkers’ gatherings, we can remember together the difficulties we have passed through and pray for the ministry before us. Leaders should care about everyone’s actual burdens, allowing rest, shared responsibilities and appropriate help to carry the song’s exhortation, so that we hold to faithfulness in the Lord’s love.
Commissioning, encouragement for coworkers, graduation and blessings at new stages of life.
