Redeeming grace · Freely given grace
This song joins joy in nearness to the Lord with salvation given by Christ. Second Corinthians 5 proclaims that anyone in Christ is a new creation; Hebrews 10 explains believers’ bold access to God through Jesus’ blood; Psalm 16 lifts our eyes towards the fullness of joy he gives. At baptismal thanksgiving or gatherings on salvation, explain these passages before inviting a thankful response. The song’s joy can also prompt reflection on daily trust and obedience: hearing the Lord’s Word, praying honestly and blessing others in relationships. Even amid hardship, the grace of forgiveness and nearness to the Lord continues sustaining our steps.
