About this hymn

This work places life’s praise and regrets, what has already happened and dreams not yet fulfilled, together before the Lord. Such an offering touches what we most easily hold tightly: judgements about the past and arrangements for the future. Romans calls believers to offer themselves because of God’s mercy and discern his will through renewed minds; Paul also learns to relinquish what lies behind and continue running towards Christ’s call. After singing, we can separately entrust one past event we find hard to release and one future plan to the Lord, asking him to make our experiences helpful in serving others. Dedication thus enters concrete life and leaves space for obedience within dreams for which we are still waiting.
