This song connects quiet prayer before the Lord with the experience of renewed joy and security within our hearts. Our drawing near to him begins with the love he has shown first; we then ask the Lord to shine his light within us so that worry no longer occupies our hearts alone. Psalm 4 moves from crying out to sleeping peacefully, showing that peace can come through trust in God before matters are fully resolved.
