The pilgrim journey · Mission and the gospel
This hymn repeatedly declares that salvation is in Jesus and invites those who hear the good news to keep proclaiming it to people near and far. Images of mountains, seas and all nations express the outward direction of the gospel. The song also remembers sorrowful people who long for mercy, joining a wide vision with gentle concern in its proclamation. Acts bears witness that Jesus is the Saviour; Romans reminds the church that people need to be sent to preach. As we sing, we can intercede for one region and one particular person and consider how to share the Lord’s death and resurrection clearly. Joyful singing encourages the church to draw near to people and patiently tell them of the grace we have already received.
