Confession and repentance · Surrender and dedication
This hymn unfolds dedication into a willingness to go, speak and become someone who pleases the Lord. It considers both distant ministry and people nearby who need help. Isaiah presents a response after hearing the call to be sent; 1 Peter urges everyone to serve one another according to the gifts they have received. As we sing, we can turn an abstract willingness into one specific step: greeting a lonely person, undertaking an appropriate ministry responsibility or seriously discerning a long-term call. The Lord values faithfulness. We also need prayer, communal discernment and practical preparation so that enthusiasm becomes sustained obedience and glorifies him where we are.
