The pilgrim journey · Unity and love
This hymn puts love for God’s Kingdom into practice through prayer, care and commitment to the church he has gathered. Psalm 122 expresses the desire to pray for the holy city’s peace; Ephesians explains that Christ loves the church and gave himself for it, making believers members of God’s household together. As we sing, we can bring both gratitude and concern for the community before the Lord and be willing to undertake specific responsibilities for brothers and sisters. Loving the church also includes patiently facing its imperfections, honestly addressing harm and seeking unity and renewal. Our hope is that Christ will continue cleansing and building his people, so that our shared life reveals his glory.
