Psalm 104 describes God clothing himself in light as a garment. The opening of this song is almost a literal translation of that line. It spread rapidly through Chinese churches worldwide, partly because its refrain consists of a single sentence, making it accessible in both language and music. Precisely for that reason, worship leaders should take care not to repeat only the refrain and pass over the verses' words about the Trinity and eternity. The verses truly support the song. Another reminder matters: this is a different song from “How Great Thou Art”. Their Chinese titles differ by only one character, but their origins, dates and copyright status differ. Confusing them causes practical problems.
