With images of night, mountain roads and the distance, this song depicts hardship and invites us to look afresh at the road ahead with faith and love. Hebrews 11 helps us understand the relationship between hope and things not yet seen; chapter 12 directs our eyes further towards Jesus, giving faith a definite object. Circumstances may remain complicated, but the Lord’s faithfulness can widen our vision and make a discouraged heart willing to take another step. Romans 8 also urges believers to wait patiently for the fulfilment of what they hope for. After singing, we can talk about the obstacle we currently find hardest to cross, intercede for one another and seek specific support, learning as we walk together to measure difficulties by the Lord’s promises.
