The pilgrim journey · Companionship and guidance
Wilderness, heavenly food, guiding cloud and fire, and crossing the Jordan picture a traveller’s reliance on God’s provision and guidance. Exodus records how he cares for his redeemed people; Hebrews directs sojourners’ hope towards the homeland God has prepared. Admit weakness while singing, ask the Lord for each day’s necessities and remain trusting through difficult stretches. These Old Testament pictures also help the church remember that God’s people do not travel alone. We must support one another, share received grace and learn obedience together, completing our entrusted journey with the hope of final rest.
