Confession and repentance · Following and obedience
This hymn invites those facing temptation or suffering to approach Gospel scenes of Gethsemane, trial, cross and empty tomb. There we see Christ praying, obeying and enduring, and hear resurrection’s good news. Matthew records his entrusting to the Father amid sorrow; First Peter teaches believers to follow his steps under unjust treatment. Singing becomes a quiet form of learning: acknowledging fear, entrusting the urge for revenge to the Lord and asking him for strength to do what is right. Resurrection hope supports this learning road, giving obedience amid suffering a light-filled direction.
