The glory of God · Holiness and majesty
Psalm 24 twice asks “Who is the King of glory?” and answers “Yahweh strong and mighty, Yahweh mighty in battle.” (Psalm 24:8). Notice the setting: his glory appears in battlefield victory rather than palace splendour. Revelation 19:6 declares “For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns!” with voices like many waters and mighty thunder. Singing of the King can become a show of impressive force in Chinese worship. Scripture centres on the fact that he already reigns. Our shouting does not bring it into being. The song suits united gatherings and opening worship. When a church faces hardship, the declaration of his reign carries particular weight.
Opening worship and united services; teaching on God's sovereignty or Revelation 19.
