The glory of God · Goodness and provision
This hymn turns from harvest thanksgiving towards hope of God’s final gathering of his people, letting the fields’ harvest prompt examination of life’s fruitfulness. Psalm 65 praises God for watering the earth; Matthew’s parable of wheat and weeds points the final harvest towards his righteous judgement. Thank him for daily provision and workers’ labour, and ask the Lord to make your life bear fruit pleasing to him. Thanksgiving includes more than enjoying abundance: it also means sharing with those in need, faithfully managing entrusted resources and learning holiness while we wait, hoping one day to share complete joy before him.
Harvest and thanksgiving services, autumn gatherings, reflection before giving and worship on final hope.
