The glory of God · Holiness and majesty
This congregational prayer offers worship and petitions in turn to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, ending in praise of the triune God. As the church gathers, we acknowledge that hearing the word, worshipping and being renewed all result from God’s initiative in showing grace. The baptismal command in Matthew and the blessing in 2 Corinthians together reveal the relationship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to believers’ lives; Ephesians explains that through Christ, in the Holy Spirit, we come to the Father. Singing can help the congregation set aside scattered thoughts and ask the Lord to teach us with truth and sustain us with grace, so that shared worship enters into trust, love and obedience.
Opening Sunday worship, worship on the Trinity, coworkers’ prayer and congregational calls to worship.
