Confession and repentance · Following and obedience
Following sometimes leads through unfamiliar, difficult places. This song asks the Lord for faith and courage to take the next step. Matthew 14 records Peter answering Jesus’ call and the Lord’s support when he becomes afraid; Psalm 23 brings the shepherd’s presence into the valley. Trust includes listening to his Word, discerning the path and seeking help in weakness. At a commissioning or life transition, invite the congregation to name the step concerning them most, then pray for one another. Obedience in following also needs Scripture and the community, providing sound guidance and support for the journey.
