Confession and repentance · Surrender and dedication
From the wise men’s joy in receiving guidance and coming before Christ with gifts, this hymn turns into a prayer for believers today to follow and offer themselves. In Matthew, the wise men complete their search and respond in worship to the Saviour they see; Romans invites believers to offer their whole selves and live in worship that pleases God. As we sing, we can consider what is guiding us now and honestly place what we treasure in the Lord’s hands. The work also looks towards the eternal city lit by God’s glory, connecting our present offering with long-term hope. Gifts offered on Sundays or feast days can therefore extend into continuing faithfulness, generosity and obedience in ordinary life.
