The pilgrim journey · Mission and the gospel
This song first looks to the Creator through mountains and seas, the starry sky and tiny creatures, then calls his people to take up the mission of witness. Amid darkness, Isaiah 60 declares that God reveals his glory to Zion. As the church sings, we can also ponder Jesus’ teaching that his disciples should be light, turning our identity as recipients of grace into visible good works. The light to be revealed comes from the Lord; human talent and fanfare cannot become the centre of worship. Looking at the vast world, we also remember those nearby who do not yet know the gospel and live honestly in our work, families and relationships with neighbours, bearing witness in service and words to the God who creates and saves.
